Families across Tameside, Saddleworth and the wider North West are joining a growing call for the NHS to formally recognise Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) as a lifelong condition.

Clinical Guideline for the Management of PDA

Clinical guideline describing the assessment and medical treatment of PDA in premature babies. This document is produced by the North West Neonatal Network and is to be used in conjunction with the referral pathway for surgical ligation.

Perinatal Management Plan 

This perinatal management plan can be downloaded and is to be used as directed in the “Prenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Heart Disease and Perinatal Management SOP”. This is to improve communication between obstetric teams and the neonatal teams looking after the baby. The parents should be given a copy of this plan.

This document describes the referral pathway to be followed when an abnormality of the fetal heart is suspected at the routine 20-week anomaly scan. It also contains guidance on perinatal management.

This document describes the referral pathway for premature babies that have been assessed as having a clinically significant Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) that needs surgical ligation at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
