Our Network Lead Nurse attended the Liverpool and Sefton Mencap Conference to learn about the I’m In campaign. Some people with CHD also have a learning disability, joining the Learning Disability Register is key in ensuring they receive the adjustments and support they need.

Hearts and Minds Foundation Brings Comfort to Families Across the North West

The North West Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Network is delighted to share that families at both Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital have recently benefitted from the generous support of the Hearts and Minds Foundation.

The charity has been working closely with our network and local hospitals to provide bespoke “care boxes” for children and their families during what can be an incredibly challenging and emotional time. These beautifully presented boxes include thoughtful items designed to bring moments of comfort, distraction, and reassurance to young patients undergoing cardiac treatment, as well as to the parents and carers who are alongside them every step of the way.

Over recent weeks, families from our Specialist Children’s Surgical and Cardiology Centres have received their boxes, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Parents have shared how much they appreciate the thought behind the initiative, and staff have seen firsthand the joy these small acts of kindness can bring.

We are deeply grateful to the Hearts and Minds Foundation for their continued partnership and for the meaningful difference they are making to children with congenital heart disease across the North West.
