Celebrating Exam Success!

Celebrating success across the regional echocardiography community following outstanding recent examination successes within the North-West regional Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) training programme, supported by NHSE initiatives.

In an inspiring achievement, three highly experienced adult cardiac physiologists — Michael Coyne (Blackpool) (picture to follow), Ben Clarke and Alison Bishop (Bolton) (pictured below) have all exceptionally passed their written congenital echocardiography examinations.

Their achievement reflects both personal dedication and the success of a collaborative regional training model, combining regular specialist training days with continued learning within their home departments. Through sustained monthly exposure to a specialist CHD environment, they have developed the advanced knowledge and skills required to meet the demands of this challenging assessment.

Beyond recognising individual excellence, these results demonstrate the value of coordinated cross-site education and shared expertise in strengthening the congenital echocardiography workforce across the region. The success also highlights the commitment of the multidisciplinary teams who support training within busy clinical services.

Looking ahead, this achievement reinforces the importance of continued investment in structured regional CHD training pathways to support workforce development, standardisation of practice and, ultimately, improved patient care.
